The Standard Porta Potty carries a toilet, a urinal, a paper holder, and hand sanitizer. It's the default for framing crews, roofers, and backyard projects.
The ADA-Compliant Porta Potty has a wide door, a flat entry, grab bars, and wheelchair turning space. Bring one to anything the public can attend.
The Deluxe Flushing Porta Potty adds a flush and much better odor control, which guests notice at a wedding or a class reunion.
The Deluxe Porta Potty with Sink builds a sink, soap, and a mirror into the unit, handy near a food tent.

A unit on your own driveway, yard, or fenced job site generally won't need City approval. Public property is where Cedar Falls sets clear terms.
Public events: The City's public event permit covers events on City property. The Director of Finance and Business Operations signs off, the permit has to stay with you during the event, and City staff can ask to see it. A denial can be appealed to a Council committee within 10 days.
Timing and cost: The application is due at least 60 days ahead and is handled first come, first served. There's no charge for the application itself, though rentals, deposits, and other permits can add up. If insurance is required, it has to be approved 7 days before the event or the event can be canceled.
Portable toilets specifically: The same application spells out drop-off and pickup. Units come the day of the event and go the day after, and for a weekend event they may arrive no more than 24 hours early and must be gone the next business day. Build that into your booking.
Streets and sidewalks: Work in the public right of way goes through the City's engineering permits, including excavation and sidewalk or driveway approach permits. Contractors also need a right-of-way bond and a liability certificate on file.
State highways: For a closure or work on a state route, Iowa's transportation department runs the permit, including short-term closures for city parades.
Food vendors: In this part of the state, food licensing runs through the Black Hawk County Health Department in Waterloo, reachable at 319-291-2413. File event registration about 60 days out and individual licenses about 30 days out.

Set units on firm, level ground with a straight approach for the truck. River bottom ground near the Cedar softens fast after rain, and a unit that settles sideways is both unpleasant and harder to pump.
Leave 15 feet between a unit and any food service, and keep well back from the riverbank, creeks, and storm drains. On a job site, units within roughly 200 feet of the work save your crew a surprising amount of time over a week.

In town, that's the City's Water Reclamation Facility, which treats everything from homes, businesses, and industry before releasing it to the Cedar River.
