Most renovation and cleanout debris can go in your container. The limits come from Connecticut's disposal bans and from what the receiving facility will accept.
Connecticut bans several everyday items from the trash. Grass clippings can't be thrown away, and leaves must be composted. TVs, computer monitors, printers, and computers are covered electronic devices that must be recycled. Lead-acid and vehicle batteries are banned as well.
Tires are handled as special waste in Connecticut, and the state no longer allows them in landfills, whole or in pieces. Mattress recycling runs through a program that not every town joins, so mention mattresses when you book.
Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, waste oil, propane tanks, and asbestos can't go in a standard dumpster either. Connecticut has a paint take-back program for leftover paint.
