At Prime Dumpster, we provide porta potty rentals across 7 Wyoming cities, from Cheyenne and Laramie to Casper, Gillette, Rock Springs, and Jackson. Our units serve construction sites, oil and gas crews, ranch work, rodeos, weddings, and other outdoor events, along with emergency restrooms when a town's water or sewer service goes down.

What you pay depends on a handful of decisions. The count and style of units, the number of days you keep them, and how often they get cleaned all shape your quote. In a state with long stretches between towns, the drive to your site matters a great deal too.

Here you'll find average prices, a quick way to size your order, the permits that can apply in Wyoming, and the rules for food stands and waste.

What Factors Affect Your Porta Potty Rental Price?

Your rental price pays for delivery, regular cleaning, and pickup at the end. The details of your site and schedule decide how much of each you need. - Rental length: Parties, rodeos, and weddings are usually booked as a weekend rental, so one day and three days cost about the same. Work sites are billed every 28 days for as long as the job runs. - Number of units: More units mean a higher total. The goal is enough restrooms to keep lines short without paying for extras. - Service visits: Every visit covers pumping out the tank, cleaning the inside, and restocking supplies. A large crew or a long event may need more than the standard schedule. - Delivery distance and site access: Wyoming is wide open, and many jobs sit far from the nearest town. A remote well pad, a ranch road, or a site with no graded path for our truck all take more time. - Unit type and add-ons: Upgrades like a flushing unit, a sink, a solar unit, or a restroom trailer cost more than a standard unit. Handwashing stations are priced separately.

Two Wyoming points deserve a spot in your plan. Because towns are far apart, a site an hour or more from the nearest service route will usually cost more to clean each week than one in town. And the busy season is short. Summer brings weddings, county fairs, rodeos, and tourist traffic near Jackson, so book those dates early.

Your account manager can walk through each factor and help you build a quote that fits your job and your budget.

Do I Need a Permit for a Porta Potty in Wyoming?

On private land, such as your yard, a ranch, or a fenced job site, a porta potty usually doesn't need a permit. Public space is different. If the unit will sit on a highway shoulder, a street, a sidewalk, or a park, whoever manages that land needs to approve it.

Wyoming has no single permit for portable toilets. Which office you contact depends on where the unit goes:

  • State highways. The Wyoming Department of Transportation allows organized events on state highways and along the highway right-of-way only with prior approval. Its Special Event Permit covers events outside city or town limits, and the WYDOT guide for special events asks for the application at least 60 days ahead. WYDOT aims to reply within 30 days, and its district offices can help.
  • City and town streets. Inside town limits, the city or town decides what can go on its streets, sidewalks, and parks. A park usually needs a reservation first.
  • Community events. Many Wyoming towns ask for an event permit for parades, street fairs, and festivals, and restrooms are often part of the review.
  • Food stands. Each food vendor needs a temporary food license before the event, covered in the next section.

A town street and a state highway often run through the same downtown, so check the exact spot before you set a date. Your account manager can help you find the right contact.

How Many Porta Potties Do I Need?

The right number depends on your headcount and how long people will stay. Prime Dumpster works from these guidelines: - Events: Allow 1 unit for every 50 guests at an event of around four hours. When alcohol is served, add 15 to 20 percent. - Construction and field crews: Federal safety rules for construction require at least 1 toilet when 20 or fewer people work on site. Crews larger than that need 1 toilet and 1 urinal per 40 workers. - Accessible units: Public events should have at least 1 accessible unit in each group, about 1 for every 20 units. - Emergencies: For recovery work after a storm, flood, or fire, allow 1 unit for every 10 relief workers.

Full-day events, summer heat, and big crowds all fill tanks faster. Use our porta potty calculator to get a quick number, then have your account manager check it against your plans.

Porta Potty Rules and Requirements in Wyoming

Wyoming keeps its rules for portable toilets fairly simple. For most renters, three topics matter. - Accessible units: Federal accessibility rules apply statewide. When portable toilets are grouped for public use, the ADA standards ask for 5 percent of each group to be accessible, and at least one in every group. Units used only by construction workers are exempt. - Food stands: Food vendors at fairs, rodeos, and festivals need a temporary food license from the Wyoming Department of Agriculture or the local health department. The state's temporary food stand requirements say the license must be in hand before the event and lasts up to 14 days at one event. Each stand needs a place for workers to wash their hands with water and soap, since hand sanitizer alone doesn't count. No waste of any kind can go on the ground. Some counties, like Laramie, Natrona, Sweetwater, and Teton, have their own local health offices, and Teton County wants applications 14 days before the event. A handwashing station near the food area helps vendors meet these rules. - Where the waste goes: Portable toilet waste is pumped into a truck and taken to a treatment plant that accepts it. In Cheyenne, the Board of Public Utilities takes septic and portable toilet waste at its Dry Creek plant. Haulers there must hold a license from Cheyenne-Laramie County Public Health, and each truck is inspected first. - Job sites and wind: Federal safety rules require restrooms on construction sites and base the count on crew size. On open, windy ground, ask us to place units in a sheltered spot or stake them down.

If you're planning a public event, food vendors, or a long field job, your Prime Dumpster account manager can confirm the rules that apply and set up units to match.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a porta potty rental cost in Wyoming?

A standard porta potty averages $199–$349 per unit, and an ADA-compliant unit averages $200–$300. Flushing units and units with a sink are $300–$400, and restroom trailers start at $1,500. Your final cost depends on how many units you need, how long you keep them, and the cleaning schedule. Your account manager confirms it in a free quote.

How many porta potties do I need for an event?

Plan on 1 unit for every 50 guests for an event of about four hours. If you serve alcohol, add 15 to 20 percent more units. All-day events and hot weather call for extra units or a mid-event cleaning. For any public event, include at least one accessible unit in each group.

Do I need a permit for a porta potty in Wyoming?

Usually not on private land. Events on a state highway outside town limits need a WYDOT Special Event Permit, requested at least 60 days ahead. Inside town limits, the city handles its own streets, sidewalks, and parks. Food vendors need a temporary food license. Your account manager can help you find the right office.

How often are porta potties serviced?

Most rentals include one service visit a week. The driver pumps the tank, cleans the unit, and refills paper and sanitizer. Big crews, crowded events, and remote sites with heavy use may need more visits. Your account manager sets a cleaning schedule based on how many people will use your units.

Do I need an ADA-accessible porta potty?

Yes, if the public will use your units. Federal rules call for about 5 percent of each group to be accessible, and every group needs at least one. Units used only by a construction crew are exempt, but adding one can still help. Your account manager can help you choose the right mix.

How far in advance should I book a porta potty in Wyoming?

For a job site, a few days' notice is usually fine, and delivery can come within 24 to 48 hours in and around our cities. For summer weddings, rodeos, or fairs, book several weeks out. Events on a state highway need 60 days for the WYDOT permit, and remote sites need extra planning.
