Springfield does not publish a restroom ratio of its own for events, though its site plan checklist does expect you to map accessible pathways, food vendors, and trash. The Standard Porta Potty covers most jobs, with a toilet, urinal, paper holder, and hand sanitizer. It is what most crews and backyard gatherings order.
The ADA-Compliant Porta Potty enters at ground level and adds a wide door, grab bars, and turning room for a wheelchair. Any event open to the public should include one.
The Deluxe Flushing Porta Potty adds a flush and better odor control, the usual step up for a wedding, a reception, or a company party.
The Deluxe Porta Potty with Sink carries the sink, soap, and mirror inside, which families like and which shortens the line near food.
The Solar Porta Potty runs its light and fan on solar power. Handy at a lake event, a farm, or a lot with no service yet.
The Handwashing Station is a freestanding sink with warm water, soap, and towels. The county health department expects exactly that setup near a food booth, down to the spigot and the discard bucket.
The Restroom Trailer brings several stalls, running water, and climate control, for a big wedding, a corporate event, or a long-running site.

A unit on private ground, such as your driveway, a job site lot, or a church parking area, needs no City permit. Public ground is a different story, and Springfield is strict about it.
Streets and right-of-way: the City prohibits encroachments on, in, over, or under the public right-of-way unless it authorizes them, and it deliberately keeps the number of authorized ones low. Traffic Operations in Public Works handles closures, encroachments, and temporary placements, and answers at 417-864-1980. For comparison, the City does not allow a waste container on a public street at all outside a narrow downtown exception, so plan on private ground for your units.
Lane or sidewalk closures: every closure needs approval first. Downtown and in the Commercial Street district, call Traffic Operations five business days ahead. Elsewhere, call the utility coordinator at 417-864-1901 on the same five business day clock. You will need a traffic control plan and you pay for the traffic control.
Public events: any event on City facilities, parks, streets, or sidewalks needs a special event permit. Apply 60 days ahead to hold your date and location. Staff review within 10 business days and tell you what else they want, all paperwork is due 30 days ahead, and missing that date means a denial. The coordinator can be reached at 417-864-1105, and events held only on park land go through Springfield-Greene County Parks at 417-864-1049.
Food at your event: each vendor needs a temporary food establishment permit, applied for 10 days ahead. Every booth must have a handwashing station with warm water, a free-flowing spigot, soap, paper towels, a small trash can, and a discard bucket.

Set units on firm, level ground. Greene County sits on karst, so watch for soft spots and low areas that hold water after a storm, and keep units clear of any sinkhole or drainage swale on the property.
Give our truck a real path. Leave a clear lane with nothing parked in it, watch for low limbs, and tell us about gate codes or a locked yard. On a job site, keep units within about 200 feet of the work so nobody loses a break walking.
Keep units roughly 15 feet from food service and well away from creeks, storm drains, and wells. Wilson's Creek and the James River watershed start right here, so placement is worth a second look.
A standard rental includes one visit a week to pump the tank, clean the unit, and restock paper, soap, and sanitizer. Fair week, festival weekends, large crews, and a humid Ozarks July all call for more.
Disposal is tightly controlled here. Hauled wastewater may only go to the City's Southwest plant, and only with a valid hauled wastewater permit. Springfield reads the word septage narrowly, meaning household septic tank waste, so portable toilet loads count as conditionally acceptable and need prior approval before a truck arrives. Statewide, Missouri also runs a general permit for land applying domestic septage, capped per acre each year. Your account manager can confirm your service days and where your load ends up.

Most Springfield deliveries land within 24 to 48 hours of booking. Three to five days of notice is comfortable for a job site. If your event sits on public ground, work back from the City's 60 day application deadline instead, because that clock runs far longer than delivery.
