The 10-Yard Dumpster is short enough for a narrow city driveway. It is the right pick for plaster, brick and concrete, and it also covers a single-room gut or a basement cleanout.
The 15-Yard Dumpster takes a porch rebuild, a garage, or old flooring and trim from a floor of a triple-decker.
The 20-Yard Dumpster is our most requested size in Providence. One container usually clears an apartment turnover or a kitchen and bath remodel done together.
The 30-Yard Dumpster serves full-building work, roof replacements and new construction, where debris stacks up in a hurry.
The 40-Yard Dumpster is the biggest we carry. Commercial crews use it for mill conversions, tenant fit-outs and any job producing bulky, lightweight waste.
If two sizes both seem plausible, describe the job to your account manager and they'll narrow it down.
Keep the container on private property, such as a driveway or a fenced lot, and no City permit is needed. Once any part of it sits on a street, a sidewalk or a parking lane, Providence wants paperwork first.
The City of Providence lists a Temporary Dumpster or Pod Permit and a Yearly Dumpster Permit on its Public Works forms page, alongside a right-of-way encroachment request and a road opening permit from the Engineering Division. Everything is filed through the City's online permitting portal.
Which one you need depends on how long the container stays and exactly where it lands. On the narrow streets in Olneyville, Silver Lake and the Valley, a container often takes a parking lane, which is worth raising with the City early.

Ordinary building and cleanout debris is welcome. The limits come from Rhode Island law and from the acceptance rules at the state landfill.
Rhode Island Resource Recovery says plainly that regulated hazardous waste and regulated medical waste are banned from any acceptance at its facilities, along with waste brought in from out of state. Televisions, computers, monitors, laptops, tablets and mercury-added products are banned from landfill disposal, so they have to leave your container before it goes.
That also rules out liquids, paint, solvents, fuel and asbestos, which belong with a hazardous waste program rather than in a roll-off container.
Sorting is not optional here. Resource Recovery requires loads to arrive separated by material, and a mixed load can be charged entirely at the higher rate or refused at the scale. Stumps, long beams and dusty material carry a handling surcharge on top.
Mattresses, tires and appliances all have their own routes in Rhode Island. Flag them with your account manager when you book so the quote is right the first time.
