Everyday household and construction debris is fine. The limits come from Rhode Island law and from what the state landfill will take at the scale.
Rhode Island bans regulated hazardous waste and regulated medical waste from the state facility outright, and it won't take waste from outside the state. Televisions and computers, including monitors, towers, laptops, and tablets, are barred from landfill disposal, and so is anything with mercury added. Paint, solvents, fuel, motor oil, liquids, and asbestos are out of a roll-off container as well.
Sorting is not optional here. State rules require solid waste to be separated into recyclable and non-recyclable material, and the landfill charges a mixed load at the highest rate in the load. Anything over one tenth contaminated can draw an extra fee, and a load with prohibited material in it can be turned away at the scale.
Warwick also runs a drop-off yard on Range Road for recyclables, mattresses, scrap metal, tires with the rims off, and old electronics. It accepts no trash at all, so it complements a roll-off container rather than replacing one.
