Most building and cleanout debris loads without trouble. The limits come from Mississippi's disposal rules and from what the receiving site accepts.
The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality sets out what a construction debris site may take: wood, metal, brick, mortar, concrete, stone, asphalt, cardboard, tree limbs and stumps, furniture, and appliances that have had the motor removed. Its state rules also spell out what those sites may not take: household garbage and food waste, liquids and sludges, paint and paint buckets, oil and chemical containers, engines, motors, whole tires, batteries of every type, toxic or hazardous waste, regulated asbestos, and medical waste.
Refrigerators and air conditioners are on that excluded list too, so appliances with refrigerant need separate handling. So do cut or shredded tires.
The City says the same thing in shorter form for its carts. No oil, gas, paint, warm ashes, or other hazardous material belongs in a cart, and DeSoto County takes those items at its household hazardous waste collections. Anything labeled caution, poisonous, toxic, flammable, or corrosive should never go out with ordinary waste.
