Village right-of-way events: Lindenhurst has a special event permit for use of the village right-of-way, and it asks directly for an event diagram showing traffic and pedestrian flow, tent placement, portable restrooms, and any road closures. The listed charges are a $100 use fee, a $100 public safety fee, and a clean-up attendant at $125 with more per hour beyond four hours. Big crowds and state roads: An event expected to draw 5,000 or more at one time needs a state health permit filed at least 30 days out. Work in a state highway right-of-way needs a separate state highway work permit.

Choose firm, level ground. Sandy south shore soil shifts under a loaded unit, so a plywood pad or a driveway corner is the safer bet. Give the driver a straight lane in and check the width of side gates, the height of carports and low limbs, and whether a neighbor parks across your apron.
Keep units at least 15 feet from food service, and further where a food stand is involved. Stay clear of wells, canals, and storm drains that run to the bay. On a job site, keep them within 200 feet of the work. At an event, break them into small clusters rather than one row, and put the accessible unit on a firm, flat approach.
Low ground is worth a second thought here. If your street floods on a high tide with an east wind, pick the highest firm spot you have and let us know, so the unit isn't sitting in water when the truck comes back.
A standard rental includes a weekly visit to pump, clean, and restock. In New York, the hauler carries a state waste transporter permit that specifically covers portable toilet waste, shows the permit number on both sides and the rear of the truck, and may only unload at a facility authorized to accept it.
