Most household and building debris can go in your container. The limits come from Mississippi's disposal rules and from what the landfill will accept.
Mississippi bans lead-acid batteries, like car and truck batteries, from landfills. The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality says the store that sells you a new battery must take the old one back, and many stores add a core charge of $5 or more until you return it.
Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, motor oil, propane tanks, and asbestos can't go in a standard dumpster either.
Lauderdale County's bulky goods drop-off sites accept washers, dryers, stoves, and dishwashers from county residents. The county's solid waste enforcement page says those sites won't take tires, batteries, air conditioners or other appliances with Freon, household trash, or contractor debris. Mention tires and Freon appliances when you book so they can be handled separately.
