Most construction debris and household junk can go in your dumpster. The limits come from Maine law and from local disposal rules.
The Maine Department of Environmental Protection says it's illegal to throw away TVs and monitors with tube or LCD screens. Keep old TVs, computer monitors, and laptops out of your dumpster and take them to a recycling drop-off.
The City's transfer station also turns away asbestos, chemicals, gasoline, propane tanks, oil-based paint, tar, and driveway sealer. Those rules are a good guide for what to leave out of a rental too.
Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, and fuel can't go in a standard dumpster.
If you're unsure about an item, ask your account manager before it goes in.
