Four things decide what a dumpster costs in Cheyenne.

You generally don't need a permit when your dumpster sits on private property, like your driveway or a fenced job site. Once any part of the container sits in a street, alley, or other public right-of-way, the City of Cheyenne expects a permit first.
City law says no one may do work in the public right-of-way without a right-of-way encroachment permit, and that fee is based on the value of the work instead of a flat charge. The City Engineer's office issues right-of-way permits and takes applications through the City's online permit portal.
The office is at 2101 O'Neil Avenue, Room 206, and it's open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call the City Engineer's office at 307-637-6268 with your address and dates, and ask what the permit will cost and how long approval takes. Keep the sidewalk clear, too, since City rules don't allow storage containers on it.

Most remodeling and cleanout debris is fine to load. The limits come from Wyoming law and from the City facilities that take Cheyenne's waste.
Wyoming's rule is about where waste goes. The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality requires all solid waste to go to facilities approved by the state and by the local government where the site sits. The City's own sites then set the item rules.
Electronics are the big one. The City's fee schedule says computers, TVs, and cell phones contain hazardous materials and can't go in the landfill. Instead, the Cheyenne Transfer Station takes up to three pieces of e-waste a day from City and County residents at no cost.
Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, and asbestos can't go in a standard dumpster. The transfer station accepts household paints and chemicals during its own hazardous waste hours. Refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioners need their refrigerant removed, and tires are charged separately, so mention them when you book.

Cheyenne runs its own disposal sites through the Public Works Department. The City's Sanitation Division doesn't offer temporary roll-off containers for homes, and it sends residents to a commercial roll-off company for that work.
