The 15-Yard Dumpster fits a garage cleanout, a carpet or flooring removal, or the shingles from a small roof. It adds room without the price of a much bigger container.
The 20-Yard Dumpster is a favorite with Longmont homeowners tackling a basement finish, a whole-house cleanout, or a remodel across several rooms.

If the dumpster stays on private property, like your driveway or a job site, you usually don't need a permit in Longmont. If it sits on a street, alley, or sidewalk, you do.
The City's Work in the Right-of-Way Permit lists storage containers, pods, and dumpsters among the temporary obstructions it covers. Anyone who blocks part of the public right-of-way has to apply. You can file online through the City's portal or in person at the Development Services Center, 385 Kimbark Street, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
The City asks for a certificate of insurance before it issues the permit. If the container blocks traffic, a bike lane, or a walkway, a traffic control plan is also required. Once everything is in, the City says most permits are processed within 24 to 48 hours, while complex ones can take up to five business days.

Nearly all remodeling and household debris can go in your container. Colorado law and the landfill set the limits.
Electronics are the big one. Boulder County explains that Colorado's Electronic Recycling Jobs Act has banned throwing away electronic devices since July 1, 2013. That covers TVs, computer monitors, printers, laptops, tablets, DVD players, and any device with a screen larger than four inches.
Hazardous waste stays out as well. Paint, solvents, pesticides, fuel, and anything marked flammable, corrosive, or toxic needs special disposal. Liquids, pressurized tanks, tires, and asbestos can't go in a standard dumpster either.
Boulder County runs a Hazardous Materials Management Facility at 1901 63rd Street in Boulder, open Wednesday through Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. It sets a 400 pound daily limit, and Longmont also holds its own hazardous waste collection events. Call the facility at 720-564-2251 to check whether your household qualifies.

Longmont contracts with a privately owned landfill at 1830 Weld County Road 5 in Erie for its trash disposal. The City's waste services page lists the landfill's hours as Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. City trash customers also get four free landfill drop days each year.
For recycling, the City runs the Longmont Recycling Center at 140 Martin St., Longmont, CO 80501. Its staffed drop-off areas take yard waste, bulky metal, motor oil, cooking oil, and car batteries Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Single-stream and cardboard bins are open around the clock.
