Most building debris and household junk can go in. The limits come from Kentucky's landfill rules and from what Pearl Hollow Landfill accepts.
Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, and asbestos can't go in a standard dumpster. The county landfill also refuses tires, batteries, antifreeze, motor oil, and anything toxic, explosive, flammable, or infectious.
Appliances need extra care. Refrigerators and air conditioners must have their Freon removed and be stamped before the landfill will take them. Let us know if you have any so we can plan for them.
For household chemicals and old electronics, Hardin County offers special collection programs and free disposal events during the year.
