Most household and building debris can go in your dumpster. Wisconsin's disposal bans and the facility that takes your load set the limits.
Wisconsin bans a long list of items from landfills and incinerators. The list includes electronics, lead-acid batteries, major appliances, used oil filters, waste oil, and waste tires. Yard waste, including grass, leaves, and brush under six inches across, is banned too. Recyclables like cardboard, aluminum and steel cans, glass containers, and plastic bottles are on the list as well.
The River Road transfer station won't take asbestos, chemical barrels, or compost, and it doesn't accept appliances that contain Freon.
Liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, and pressurized tanks don't belong in a standard dumpster either. Take out TVs, batteries, appliances, and tires before you load, and mention them when you book.
If you're not sure about an item, check with your account manager before it goes in.
