Most remodeling and cleanout debris can go in your container. Kansas law and the transfer station set the limits.
Kansas law says construction and demolition waste doesn't include friable asbestos, household garbage, or furniture and appliances that still hold refrigerant. It also leaves out tires, drums, and electrical equipment with hazardous materials. Those items can't ride along in a clean construction load.
Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, and propane tanks can't go in a standard dumpster either. The City runs a hazardous waste department for household chemicals.
At the transfer station, appliances with refrigerant and tires are charged by the item. Tires larger than 24.5 inches must be split before disposal. Keep these separate and mention them when you book.
If you're not sure about an item, ask your account manager before it goes in the container.
