Most household and renovation debris can go in your container. The limits come from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection and from what the receiving facility accepts.
Massachusetts bans a long list of items from landfills and incinerators. That list includes brick, concrete, and asphalt, clean drywall, metals, and wood, which is why construction loads go to processing facilities that recycle them. It also covers old tube TVs and monitors, car batteries, yard waste, mattresses, textiles, large appliances, and whole tires.
Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, and asbestos also stay out of a standard dumpster. Mattresses, appliances, and tires need special handling, so mention them when you book.
Lawrence residents can bring household hazardous waste to the City's seasonal drop-off. Latex paint isn't accepted there, but you can let it dry in the open can and put it in the regular trash.
If you're unsure about an item, ask your account manager before you load it.
