A container that stays on private property, in a driveway or behind the fence line of a job site, generally needs no Town permit in Marana.
Once any part of the container reaches into the street, the shoulder, or the sidewalk, the Town of Marana treats it as use of the public right-of-way. The Town issues a Right-of-Way Use Permit through its Public Works Department, with an online application and a certificate of insurance requirement listed on the same page.
Public Works sits at 11555 West Civic Center Drive and takes questions at 520-382-1900. The Town doesn't publish a fee or a turnaround time for the permit, so start the paperwork before you lock in a delivery date.

Normal remodel and cleanout debris is welcome. The exclusions come from state and federal disposal rules and from the gate policy at the landfill that receives your load.
The Los Reales Sustainability Campus, the public landfill for this part of the county, turns away explosives and ammunition, regulated hazardous waste, PCB material, radioactive material, bulk liquids, raw septage, intact automobiles, lead acid batteries, and waste oil. Anything banned under federal, state, or city rules is out as well.
Universal waste is the category that trips up homeowners. It covers fluorescent tubes, most batteries, and mercury devices such as old thermostats. Pull those, plus paint, solvents, fuel, and asbestos, before loading day.
Tires go to the Pima County waste tire program rather than the landfill, and the county runs the household hazardous waste drop-off for the region.

Pima County publishes the landfill and transfer station list for the region, and Marana sits close to two of the sites on it. One is a privately run regional landfill inside town limits, at 14508 West Avra Valley Road, reached from the Avra Valley exit off I-10.
The other is the Los Reales Sustainability Campus, the City of Tucson facility at 5300 East Los Reales Road in Tucson. It takes construction debris, concrete and asphalt, green waste, furniture, and mattresses, and it runs Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed Sundays, New Year's Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Renting almost always wins past the first pickup load. The landfill charges a minimum every time you pull onto the scale, and the round trip from Marana eats fuel and most of a morning. A single container absorbs the whole job in one haul instead.
