Most debris from a cleanout, remodel, or yard project can go in. The limits come from North Carolina's landfill bans and from what Moore County's sites accept.
The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality bans a list of items from landfills. It includes used oil, antifreeze, lead-acid batteries, oil filters, whole tires, and white goods like refrigerators, washers, and water heaters. Computers, monitors, printers, and TVs are banned too.
Fluorescent lights and mercury thermostats can't go in construction debris landfills, since the state treats all of those landfills as unlined. Aluminum cans, recyclable plastic bottles, and wooden pallets are also on the state's banned list.
Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, and asbestos can't go in a standard dumpster either.
