Most household and building debris is fine to load. What stays out is set by North Carolina's landfill bans and by the county landfill.
The state's list of banned items keeps white goods like refrigerators, washers, and water heaters out of landfills. It also bans whole tires, used oil, oil filters, antifreeze, lead-acid batteries, TVs, and computer equipment. Mercury thermostats and fluorescent bulbs can't go to a construction debris landfill either.
The usual exclusions also apply. Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, and asbestos don't belong in a roll-off container.
Yard waste is a special case under state rules. Keep large amounts of brush and limbs separate, since they're handled apart from mixed trash.
If you have an item you're unsure about, check with your account manager before it goes in.
