Most renovation and cleanout debris is fine. What's left out comes from Maryland's landfill rules and from the list the City landfill posts.
Maryland bans scrap tires from landfills, so tires need to go to a tire recycler. Keep them out of your container.
The Quarantine Road Landfill turns away hazardous waste such as paint, solvents, pesticides, acids, and gasoline. It also refuses asbestos in any form, propane and helium tanks, fire extinguishers, medical waste, drums, and liquid waste. Lead-based materials are on its refusal list too, which matters when you're stripping old trim or windows.
One local rule surprises people. The City landfill doesn't take dirt, concrete, bricks, stone, or gravel. If your job produces masonry or soil, keep it in its own container so it can go to a facility that takes it.
