Most household and construction debris can go in your container. Iowa law and the landfill that takes your load set the limits.
Iowa bans several items from landfills by law. The state's waste reduction law prohibits burying yard waste, lead-acid batteries, waste tires that haven't been processed, and used oil and oil filters. These rules apply statewide, no matter who hauls your load.
Hazardous waste, liquids, wet paint, solvents, fuel, propane tanks, and asbestos can't go in a standard dumpster either.
The Landfill of North Iowa does take some of these items on their own. Appliances, TVs and monitors, tires, and yard waste are handled separately at the landfill, each with its own fee. Keep them out of your mixed load and mention them when you book.
If you're unsure about an item, ask your account manager before it goes in.
