If your dumpster sits on private property, like your driveway, you don't need a City permit in Dunwoody. If it has to sit on a City street, you'll need the City's Dumpster Permit first.
Public Works asks for the completed Dumpster Permit application at least three business days before the delivery date. So a Friday delivery means filing by Tuesday.
The permit comes with conditions. A container can stay on the street for up to 30 days, and only one is allowed at a time. At least 10 feet of the road must stay open for traffic, and the container needs reflectors or reflective cones around it. The form doesn't list a fee.

Most debris from a remodel or cleanout can go in. The limits come from Georgia's landfill rules and from what DeKalb County's sites accept.
Georgia bans whole tires from landfills and has since the end of 1994. The state also keeps yard trimmings out of lined landfills and expects them to be chipped, composted, or reused. DeKalb takes residential tires at the landfill for a per-tire fee and turns away commercial tires.
Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, and asbestos can't go in a standard dumpster either. Asbestos needs special handling at the landfill.
Some items have their own route. DeKalb takes appliances that contain Freon at the landfill for a per-item fee, and the Seminole Road site offers electronics recycling. Pull those out of your load and mention them when you book.
