Most remodeling, roofing, and cleanout debris can go in your container. Louisiana's landfill rules and the North Landfill's own list set the limits.
Louisiana's landfill rules keep hazardous waste and most liquids out of landfills. The state also doesn't allow unprocessed waste tires to be buried, which is why tires must come off the rim and are handled separately.
The North Landfill won't accept batteries, uncrushed or dirty metal drums, friable asbestos, medical waste, industrial waste, paint, paint thinner, liquids, or solid chemicals without written approval from the parish. It also refuses commercial and industrial tires.
Appliances like refrigerators and freezers are accepted only after the doors and all refrigerants are removed. Keep solvents and fuel out too, and ask your account manager about anything you're unsure of before it goes in.
