Most remodeling and cleanout debris can go right in. The limits come from state rules and from what the parish landfill will take.
Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, and asbestos can't go in a standard dumpster. The Lincoln Parish Landfill also refuses hazardous waste outright, and its staff inspect every load at the gate. If they find waste that isn't allowed, the driver has to pull it out, or the whole load can be turned away.
Tires, batteries, electronics, and appliances need their own plan too. The City of Ruston holds a household hazardous waste day on the second Saturday of each month at 2609 S. Farmerville St., from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. It takes computers, TVs, batteries, paint, chemicals, appliances, and up to five tires without rims.
