Most construction and cleanout debris can go in your dumpster. What stays out comes from Virginia law and from the rules at the county's disposal sites.
Virginia law makes it illegal to put a used lead acid battery, like a car battery, in regular trash. It has to go to a battery seller or recycler.
Standard dumpsters can't take hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, or asbestos either. Many Falls Church homes are decades old, so test suspect flooring, pipe wrap, or siding before you tear it out.
Keep tires, wet paint, and appliances with refrigerant out of the load, and mention them when you book. Fairfax County takes household hazardous waste and electronics from residents at the I-66 site, but it doesn't accept commercial hazardous waste.
