The 10-Yard Dumpster works for a single-bath remodel, a storage unit cleanout, or old pavers and brick from a patio. Heavy material fits best here, since it reaches the weight limit before it fills the space.
The 15-Yard Dumpster suits a garage cleanout, a screened porch tear-down, or flooring pulled from a few rooms. It gives you more room without jumping to a big container.
The 20-Yard Dumpster is a favorite for whole-house cleanouts before a move and for remodels that cover several rooms. Most household projects in town fit in it comfortably.
The 30-Yard Dumpster fits large renovations, storm repair jobs, and new home construction. It handles lumber, siding, and drywall from a busy job site.
The 40-Yard Dumpster is our largest option. Builders use it for commercial projects, big demolition work, and cleanouts that produce a lot of bulky, lighter waste.

If the container stays on private property, like your driveway or yard, you generally won't need a permit from the Town. Things change if any part of it sits in a street, a Town easement, or the public right-of-way.
The Town of Mount Pleasant requires an encroachment permit for work in its right-of-way or easements. Its transportation FAQ names the Engineering and Development Services Department as the contact for these permits. That same office can tell you whether your street is owned by the Town or by the state.
Many main roads in Mount Pleasant belong to SCDOT, not the Town. On those roads, the state handles the permit instead. The Town doesn't list a fee or review time for a container online.

Nearly all remodeling and cleanout debris can go in your container. The limits come from South Carolina's landfill rules and from the landfills that receive the load.
South Carolina doesn't allow used motor oil in household waste. Tires, car batteries, yard trash, and large appliances such as refrigerators and washers follow separate disposal rules. Computers, monitors, printers, and TVs can't be sent to a landfill at all.
Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, and asbestos also can't go in a standard dumpster.
The Town's trash service page lists what its crews won't pick up, and the list is a good guide. It includes engine parts, old pesticides, creosote railroad ties, oil, tires, batteries, wet paint, tree stumps, bricks, and concrete. Fluorescent bulbs also stay out because they contain mercury. Bricks and concrete can go in a roll-off, but most of the other items need a special drop-off.

The Town picks up household garbage only from its own roll carts. Its crews won't take construction materials, and the Town tells residents to have that debris hauled away separately. That's where a roll-off comes in.
Charleston County runs the Bees Ferry Landfill at 1344 Bees Ferry Rd., Charleston, SC 29414. Its office hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The landfill can be reached at 843-571-0929. Household cleanout waste and tires can go there, and the county lists its fees on its landfill page.
Bees Ferry doesn't accept construction and demolition debris from private haulers. Remodeling, roofing, and demolition loads from Mount Pleasant go to a state-permitted debris landfill in the region.
