The 15-Yard Dumpster is the step up for a stuffed garage, a flooring pull, or a modest roof tear-off. You gain useful room without moving up into a much bigger container.
The 20-Yard Dumpster is the size most Spartanburg households end up renting. It covers a full house cleanout or a remodel that touches several rooms at once.

The City of Spartanburg handles that through its application for construction, street cuts, and maintenance within the public right-of-way. The minimum fee is $75 or the contract valuation fee, whichever is higher. Before the City issues it, you need a certificate of liability for $1,000,000 naming the City, a surety bond of $10,000, a signed hold harmless agreement, and a traffic control plan approved by the City's Traffic Services Manager. The applicant sets up and maintains every sign, cone, and barricade.
Two more points catch people out. The City will not process the permit until the applicant holds a current City business license. And if the spot is on a state road rather than a City street, you need a South Carolina Department of Transportation permit as well.

Almost all home and construction debris is welcome. The exceptions come from South Carolina's landfill rules and from what the county facility will let through the gate.
State law keeps five things out of household trash and out of landfills: used oil, waste tires, lead-acid batteries, yard trash, and large appliances. Electronics have their own ban. A television, monitor, or computer cannot go in the trash, and the landfill is not allowed to knowingly bury one.
Hazardous waste is off limits in every container, along with liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, and asbestos.
Spartanburg County takes electronics free of charge at several of its recycling centers, including the one at the Wellford landfill site. Old appliances and scrap metal have their own drop-off list, and refrigerators must be emptied of food with batteries, gasoline, and oil removed first. The county also prices electronics far above ordinary waste when they arrive mixed into a load, so pulling screens out before pickup saves real money.
