The 15-Yard Dumpster covers a two-car garage cleanout, carpet and pad from several rooms, or a small roof. It gives you more space without much added cost.
The 20-Yard Dumpster is the size many Roy homeowners pick for emptying a whole house or finishing a basement. It holds a lot of mixed household debris.

If the dumpster goes on private property, such as your driveway or a job site, you usually don't need a permit from Roy City. Once any part of it sits on a City street or in the public right-of-way, the rules change.
Roy City Public Works handles that through its Right of Way Encroachment Permit. The department's permit fee list shows a $100.00 fee, and the permit expires after 15 business days. Skipping the permit costs $100.00 on top of the permit fee. The same list covers road cuts and bore pits, so ask which line applies to a container.
The homeowner or contractor applies for the permit. Call Roy City Public Works at 801-774-1090. The office keeps early hours: Monday through Thursday, 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Friday, 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. A Friday afternoon call won't reach anyone until the next week.

Most remodel and cleanout debris can go in your container. The limits come from Utah's landfill rules and from the facility that takes your load.
Utah requires landfills to turn away liquids in anything bigger than household containers, along with sludge and other waste with free liquid in it. Hazardous waste and anything containing PCBs are also off limits.
Tires have their own state rule. Utah bans waste tires from landfills, with a few narrow exceptions, such as an individual bringing in four tires or fewer at one time. That's why the county transfer station accepts only four tires per person a day, and eight per vehicle. Keep tires out of your dumpster unless you've cleared them with us first.
Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, and asbestos can't go in a standard dumpster either. The demolition landfill the county lists also refuses TVs, household trash, and liquids of any kind, so a load with those items mixed in may be sent back.

Roy residents get curbside trash service through the City, not the county. The Weber County Solid Waste page points anyone inside city limits, including Roy, to their own city for collection.

For construction and demolition debris, the county lists Moulding & Sons Landfill, which you can call at 801-399-9994. It takes demolition material and yard waste. Green waste and compost go through Diamond Tree at 801-726-8212.
