Major appliances covers refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, stoves, ovens, dishwashers, trash compactors, and water heaters. Microwaves came off that list years ago and can go in with regular waste.
Waste oil of every kind is out, including engine, transmission, hydraulic, and fuel oil. An oil filter is allowed once it has been drained upside down for a full day. Car and boat batteries have to go back to a retailer, which is required by state law to take one in trade.
Hazardous waste is never allowed in a container, and neither are liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, or asbestos. Tires need a tire dealer or a scrap tire site rather than your container.
