Most remodeling and cleanout debris is fine to load. The limits come from Missouri's landfill laws and from the rules at the landfill that takes your load.
Missouri keeps several items out of every landfill in the state. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources lists major appliances, whole tires, used oil, and lead-acid batteries as banned. Major appliances include refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, stoves, water heaters, and dishwashers. Microwaves were taken off that list, so they aren't part of the ban. State law also limits how yard waste can go into landfills, so leaves and brush should stay out of a mixed load.
Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, and asbestos can't go in a standard dumpster either.
The Christian County Recycling Center at 1300 W. Hall Street takes cans, paper, cardboard, plastic bottles, and used motor oil. It won't take furniture, appliances of any kind, glass, or yard waste, so it isn't a spot for project debris.
If you're unsure about an item, ask your account manager before it goes in the container.
