Most household and remodeling debris is fine to load. What's off limits comes from Ohio's landfill rules and from the county transfer facility that takes your load.
The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency says municipal landfills can't accept hazardous waste, PCB waste, bulk liquids, scrap tires, or yard waste. Ohio law also bans car and truck batteries, the lead-acid kind, from landfills.
That's why tires are billed on their own at the county facility, and why they cost much more per ton than trash. Keep them out of your dumpster, or tell us about them when you book.
Paint, solvents, fuel, and asbestos can't go in a standard dumpster either. Montgomery County residents can drop off many household chemicals for free at the transfer facility on scheduled Tuesday afternoons, with proof of residency.
Yard waste has its own route. The City runs a free drop-off site for residents at 7255 Bridgewater Road, which takes limbs, brush, plants, and leaves, but no trash, dirt, stumps, or building material.
