Most household and construction debris is fine. The limits come from Ohio law and from what local disposal sites will accept.
Ohio law says no one may mix a used lead-acid battery, like a car, truck, or boat battery, with regular solid waste. These batteries have to go to a recycler instead.
The City's Transfer Station also turns away tires, vehicle batteries, and yard waste. Items with Freon are refused unless a certified technician has removed the Freon and tagged the item. Paint and other liquids must be dried out with sawdust or dirt first.
As with any standard dumpster, keep out hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, and asbestos.
For electronics, Freon appliances, and household chemicals, the City points residents to drop-off sites run by the Butler County Recycling and Solid Waste District.
If you're not sure about an item, check with your account manager before it goes in.
