Most remodeling and cleanout debris can be loaded. The limits come from state rules, City rules, and the facility that receives the material.
Washington runs a free statewide recycling program for televisions, computers, laptops, monitors, tablets, and e-readers, because those products hold toxic chemicals that should stay out of the landfill. Keep them out of your container and drop them at a collection site instead.
Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, and asbestos can't go in a standard dumpster either. Tacoma keeps asbestos, hazardous material, needles, liquids, medical waste, tires, and used motor oil out of regular collection, and sends household chemicals to the City's hazardous waste facility on South Mullen Street.
Loads also have to be covered. Uncovered or unsecured loads are illegal in Washington and can bring extra fees, and dusty material like drywall or insulation needs to be bagged or dampened. Our drivers handle the tarping, and your account manager can confirm anything you're unsure about.
