Most construction and cleanout debris is fine to load. Texas landfill rules and the type of landfill that receives your container set the limits.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality lists wastes no landfill in the state may take. They include lead-acid batteries, used motor oil, oil filters, whole tires, liquid waste, and regulated hazardous waste. Refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioners that still hold refrigerant are on the list too.
Paint, solvents, fuel, and asbestos can't go in a standard dumpster either.
The City's landfill adds one more limit. As a Type IV site, it can't take household trash, food waste, or other material that rots. A cleanout mixed with kitchen trash has to go to a landfill that accepts household waste instead.
Some items have their own local drop-off. The City sends televisions, microwaves, paint, clothing, and batteries to its transfer station for a fee, and residents can bring appliances to the City Yard at 1100 Eidson Road at no charge.
