A dumpster on private property, like your driveway or a job site, generally doesn't need a City permit. Placing one in a street, alley, or sidewalk is different, and you should check with the City first.
Pasadena's container rules sit in its garbage and trash ordinance, and the City's Permit Department handles permit questions. Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, and asbestos aren't allowed in a standard dumpster. Refrigerators and air conditioners need their refrigerant removed before disposal.
