Most debris from a remodel, roofing job, or cleanout is fine to load. Texas landfill rules and the City landfill's own limits decide what can't go in.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality keeps several items out of every municipal landfill in the state. Its list of prohibited wastes includes lead-acid batteries, used motor oil and oil filters, whole tires, liquid waste, regulated hazardous waste, PCB waste, and radioactive material. Refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioners must have their refrigerant handled properly before disposal.
The City landfill adds its own limits. It doesn't take batteries, and it won't accept paint as a liquid. The City suggests mixing leftover paint with kitty litter, dirt, or sawdust and letting it dry first.
Hazardous waste, liquids, solvents, fuel, and asbestos can't go in a standard dumpster either. Keep in mind that the City treats putting trash in a dumpster that isn't yours as illegal dumping.
If you have a question about any item, ask your account manager before it goes in.
