Most remodel and cleanout debris can go in your container. New Jersey's electronics rule and the limits at county and City sites decide what can't.
New Jersey's Electronic Waste Management Act keeps TVs, computers, monitors, laptops, tablets, and desktop printers out of the trash. The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection says consumers can recycle these devices for free at approved collection sites. In Linden, the City's recycling center on Donaldson Place accepts them too.
Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, and asbestos can't go in a standard dumpster. The City's disposal yard also turns away pesticides, antifreeze, pool chemicals, propane tanks, gasoline, needles, and ammunition, which makes a handy checklist before you load.
Motor oil, cooking oil, grass clippings, and leaves have their own drop-off at the recycling center. Let us know about appliances and tires when you book so they can be handled the right way.
Before anything questionable goes in, run it past your account manager.
