The Town doesn't publish a permit for placing a container in the street. Its permits page lists two Public Works applications, a Clearing & Grading Application and a Cut or Excavation Permit, and neither one is meant for a dumpster. Most construction and household debris can go in your container. The limits come from Texas landfill rules and from the Greater El Paso Landfill's own list.
The City of El Paso notes that hazardous and industrial waste aren't allowed in Texas Type 1 landfills and must go to designated disposal sites. The landfill's own list refuses industrial waste, items with PCBs such as old transformers and light ballasts, regulated hazardous or radioactive materials, and regulated asbestos. It also turns away liquid waste, gasoline, antifreeze, motor oil, used oil filters, and lead acid batteries.
Paint, solvents, and fuel don't belong in a standard dumpster either.
Tires follow a Texas rule. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality says scrap tires can go to a permitted landfill only after they've been split, quartered, or shredded, and each landfill decides whether it takes them. Keep whole tires out, and tell us about them when you book.
