Most debris from a remodel, roofing job, or cleanout can go in. Texas landfill rules and the City landfill's own list set the limits.
The Greater El Paso Landfill posts its banned items on the City's Environmental Services page. They include PCB items like old transformers and light ballasts, gasoline, antifreeze, motor oil, oil filters, and car batteries. Liquid waste, regulated hazardous waste, radioactive material, and regulated asbestos are also refused.
Texas rules add tires to the list. Whole tires can't go into a landfill unless they're split, quartered, or shredded, so set them aside and mention them when you book.
Paint, solvents, and fuel don't belong in a standard dumpster either. If a banned item turns up in a load, the City adds a $25 surcharge plus disposal and handling costs, according to its fee list.
