Ordinary remodel and cleanout debris is welcome. Illinois keeps a short list of items out of landfills entirely, and those are the ones to watch.
The Village spells the list out on its bulk item page: appliances, tires, car batteries, televisions, and other electronic waste are banned from direct landfill disposal. None of them belongs in your container.
Add the usual exclusions and the picture is complete. Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, pressurized tanks, and asbestos all stay out of a roll-off container.
Morton Grove residents have good places to send that material instead. Through the regional waste agency it belongs to, the Village offers collections for rechargeable batteries, compact fluorescent bulbs, mercury thermometers, holiday lights, electronics, and residential chemical waste. Village Hall itself takes CFL bulbs during business hours, and plain alkaline batteries can go in the trash.
