The 10-Yard Dumpster is the smallest one we carry. It suits a single bathroom, a modest basement cleanout, or a load of dirt, brick and busted concrete that would overload anything bigger.
The 15-Yard Dumpster gives you more room for a garage, a deck tear-out, or old carpet and flooring pulled from a couple of rooms.
The 20-Yard Dumpster is the one most Urbana homeowners land on. It holds a full house cleanout or a remodel that touches several rooms without crowding the driveway.

The City of Urbana calls for a Utility and Right-of-way Permit in that case. Its permit page lists a dumpster or storage pod in the right-of-way as one of the projects that needs one. The right-of-way covers more than the pavement. The street, the alley, the sidewalk and the grass strip beside the curb all count.
The Engineering Division of the Urbana Public Works Department handles these permits. The City wants the application at least a day before any work begins, and it says most permits clear within one to three business days. Closing a road takes three days' notice. You will also need current liability insurance that names the City.

Ordinary house and building debris is welcome. The limits come from Illinois disposal law and from what each receiving site will take.
The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency keeps several everyday items out of landfills statewide. Yard waste, used tires, lead acid vehicle batteries and used motor oil are all barred. So are large appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, ranges, water heaters and air conditioners, unless the Freon, mercury switches and other parts have been pulled out first.
Electronics carry their own rule. The agency states plainly that tossing certain devices in the trash is illegal in Illinois, so televisions, monitors and computers need to come out before your container is hauled.
Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel and asbestos never belong in a roll-off container either.
Yard waste is the rule that trips people up on cleanup jobs. Brush, leaves and grass have to go to a compost site instead. When you are unsure about an item, your account manager will check it for you before the truck arrives.

Champaign County has no landfill of its own. Mixed loads from Urbana leave through a transfer station in town, then travel to a landfill outside the county. Clean landscape material takes a shorter trip. The Landscape Recycling Center at 1210 E. University Avenue, Urbana, IL 61802 is owned jointly by the cities of Urbana and Champaign, and it turns local brush, leaves and yard debris into mulch and compost. It sits on the east side of Ambuc Park and opens Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., closed Sundays and holidays.
The Landscape Recycling Center charges a tipping fee set by the material and the amount, and it turns away anything outside its rules. Keeping brush in a container of its own is usually the cheaper route. Your account manager will confirm where each load is headed before delivery.
