Several things affect what a dumpster costs in Lackawanna.

The 15-Yard Dumpster handles a garage or basement cleanout, a kitchen remodel, or a roof stripped down to the deck.
The 20-Yard Dumpster is a common choice in Lackawanna when a newly bought house needs to be emptied or several rooms are being redone.
The 30-Yard Dumpster fits whole-house renovations, new builds, and demolition that mixes many materials.

If the dumpster sits on private property, such as your driveway or backyard, you usually won't need a City permit in Lackawanna. A street, sidewalk, or alley is a different matter.

The one exception it spells out is a permit from the City's Chief Engineer, which lets an owner or contractor with no room on the lot use up to a third of the street and sidewalk in front of the property for building materials. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation bans burying waste tires in landfills, and its electronics page says New York consumers must recycle many electronic items instead of throwing them out. That covers TVs, computers, and similar devices, so pull them out before loading.
Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, and asbestos can't go in a standard dumpster either. The City no longer picks up tires or paint at the curb, so plan for those items separately.
For electronics, Lackawanna residents can use the City Garage on Reddon Street. It takes drop-offs from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the week after each large bulk pickup week.
