Nearly all remodeling and cleanout debris is welcome. The limits come from New York State rules and from the county facility that handles the load.
Electronics are the big one. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation says that since January 2015, people can't throw away covered electronic equipment in landfills, waste-to-energy plants, or regular trash. That means TVs, computers, monitors, and printers need to be recycled, not tossed in your dumpster.
Westchester's waste is burned for energy rather than buried, so anything that could explode or release toxic fumes is a problem. Keep out propane tanks, batteries, paint, solvents, pesticides, motor oil, antifreeze, fuel, and other liquids. Asbestos and medical waste aren't allowed either.
Appliances with refrigerant, like air conditioners, dehumidifiers, and refrigerators, need special handling. Tell your account manager about them before they go in the container.
When you aren't sure about an item, a quick call to your account manager clears it up.
