Most remodeling debris and household junk can go in your container. The limits come from New York's solid waste rules and from what Long Island transfer stations will take.
Keep out hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, and asbestos. Pool chemicals, motor oil, propane tanks, and car batteries also need to stay out.
The Town of Babylon gives you an easy place for many of these items. Its Residential Recycling Center takes electronics, waste oil, car batteries, propane tanks, appliances, and up to four tires. Leftover paint and household chemicals go to the Town's S.T.O.P. Days, held on the second Saturday in April and October.
If you're unsure about an item, ask your account manager before it goes in the dumpster.
