A Yonkers quote comes down to a few local details.
Size is the first. A bigger container costs more, but one that's too small can mean a second haul, and that usually costs more than stepping up a size.

The 15-Yard Dumpster works for a basement or garage cleanout, flooring removal, or a small roof.
The 20-Yard Dumpster is a popular choice in Yonkers for whole-house cleanouts and remodels covering several rooms or a full apartment.
The 30-Yard Dumpster handles large renovations, building-wide cleanouts, and new construction.

If your dumpster sits completely on private property, like a driveway or a private lot, you don't need a permit from the Engineering Department. The City's Engineering FAQ says so directly.
A container in the roadway or over a sidewalk is different. The City's permits page says any improvement that uses a dumpster, which the City calls a canister, placed in the roadway or over a sidewalk needs a permit from the Engineering Department.
For a street canister permit, the applicant needs an insurance policy with one million dollars in liability coverage that lists the City's Engineering Department as additionally insured. The City notes that you can use a dumpster company's policy if it's already on file. You'll also need a start date, and payment must be a check or money order to the City of Yonkers, delivered in person.

Most debris from a remodel or cleanout can go in. New York's disposal rules and the receiving facility's limits set the boundaries.
Electronics are the big one. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation says that since January 1, 2015, you can't throw away certain electronics in landfills, waste-to-energy plants, or the trash. That covers TVs and monitors with screens larger than 4 inches, computers, printers, and similar equipment.
Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, and asbestos can't go in a standard dumpster. Tires and appliances that hold refrigerant need their own handling, so pull them out or mention them when you book.
The City's Recycling Center takes electronics and empty propane barbecue tanks from Yonkers residents, so those are easy to keep out of your container.
