Most household junk and remodeling debris can go in a dumpster. The limits come from Florida law and from the county transfer station.
Florida law says you may not knowingly put car batteries, used oil, or large appliances like washers and fridges in a landfill. Yard trash is also kept out of most lined landfills.
Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, and asbestos can't go in a standard dumpster.
For household chemicals and paint, the Solid Waste Authority runs a Home Chemical & Recycling Center at its Lantana transfer station.
Storm season adds one more rule. When a tropical storm or hurricane watch is issued, the Village requires you to have the dumpster removed or secured against winds up to 150 miles per hour.
