Most debris from a remodel, a roof job, or a cleanout can go in your container. Florida law and the county's disposal sites set the limits.
Florida keeps several items out of landfills. That list covers lead-acid batteries like car batteries, used motor oil, and white goods such as washers, dryers, and refrigerators. Yard trash also can't go into lined landfills unless the site collects landfill gas, so ask before you pile in branches.
The standard exclusions apply too. Keep hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, pool chemicals, gas cylinders, and asbestos out of your dumpster. Escambia County takes asbestos only by appointment, after its staff review the load.
Residents can drop off household hazardous waste at the Perdido Landfill for free. The county takes up to 10 gallons of paint, 10 gallons of gasoline, 5 gallons of used motor oil, and 10 fluorescent bulbs, along with electronics and batteries. The county also limits tires in mixed loads, so keep them separate and mention them when you book.
