Dumpster Rental in Miami, Florida

At Prime Dumpster, we provide roll-off dumpster rentals across Miami, Florida, from Little Havana and Flagami to the neighborhoods along the Miami River, in sizes from 10 to 40 yards. Older homes getting new kitchens and impact windows, apartment turnovers, and nonstop construction around the city keep our containers in demand with homeowners, landlords, and builders.

Four things set your price: the container size, the type of debris, how many days you keep it, and the Miami-Dade County disposal fees charged when the load is weighed. Below, we cover price ranges, the City's rules on where a container can sit, what can't go inside, and where your debris ends up.

What Changes the Price in Miami, FL

Several local factors shape what a dumpster costs in Miami.

Start with size. A bigger container costs more, but guessing too small can mean a second haul, which costs more than sizing up the first time.

Next is weight. Concrete block, stucco, and roof tile are common in South Florida homes, and they are heavy. The county charges by the ton, so a container full of block costs more to empty than one full of old furniture.

Then there's the landfill. Miami-Dade County lists a non-contract disposal rate of $115.80 per ton, and tires carry their own rate of $140.00 per ton. Those fees are set by the county, not by the hauler.

City rules matter here too. The City of Miami only allows franchised haulers to collect waste for pay, and it keeps containers off public streets and sidewalks. Your account manager will explain how both rules apply to your address.

What Size Dumpster Do I Need in Miami, FL?

Choose a size based on how much you're tossing and how heavy it is. Prime Dumpster carries containers from 10 to 40 yards.

The 10-Yard Dumpster fits a bathroom redo, a patio tear-out, or a small storage room cleanout. It's also the size to use for broken concrete, pavers, or stucco, since dense material hits the weight limit before the container fills up.

The 15-Yard Dumpster covers mid-size work like swapping out tile floors in a few rooms, emptying a garage, or tearing off a small shingle roof. It adds space without the price of a 20.

The 20-Yard Dumpster is a favorite for Miami homeowners doing a full cleanout or remodeling several rooms at once. Most single-family projects fit in it.

The 30-Yard Dumpster works for major renovations, additions, and new home construction. Pick it when your crew is filling it with drywall, cabinets, and framing lumber at the same time.

The 40-Yard Dumpster is the largest size we offer. It's made for commercial builds, full demolitions, and large building cleanouts.

Still deciding? Give your account manager a quick rundown of the project, and they'll recommend a size.

Do I Need a Permit for a Dumpster in Miami, FL?

On private property, such as your driveway, side yard, or a fenced job site, a dumpster usually doesn't need a street permit. City code expects containers to sit on property you own or occupy, so plan on a private spot whenever you can.

The City's code says containers may not be placed on a street, alley, sidewalk, or other public right-of-way. Any work that blocks a street or sidewalk needs a permit approved by several City departments, including police and the Department of Resilience and Public Works. That department handles applications through its iPW permitting system.

If you think the container will need to touch the street, talk to the City before delivery. You can reach Resilience and Public Works at 305-416-1200. Your account manager can help you find the right contact and a legal spot for the container.

What Can You Not Put in a Dumpster in Miami, FL?

Most household junk and building debris is fine to load. What's off limits comes from Florida's landfill rules and from Miami-Dade County's disposal sites.

Florida law keeps lead-acid batteries and used oil out of landfills. Whole tires can't be buried in a landfill either. Rechargeable batteries, and devices that hold them, can't go in with mixed trash. Pull those out before you start filling the container.

Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, and asbestos don't belong in a standard dumpster either. In Miami-Dade, asbestos is only taken at South Dade Landfill, and only by appointment.

Tires are accepted at the county landfills, but they're charged at a higher rate. Tell your account manager if you have them.

If you're unsure about something, ask your account manager before you toss it.

Where Your Waste Goes

Miami-Dade County runs the public disposal sites for the area, and only two of them take construction and demolition debris. The county's transfer stations, including the Central Transfer Station on NW 20th Street, take household garbage and trash only.

North Dade Landfill is at 21500 NW 47th Ave, Miami, FL 33055, near the Broward County line. It's open seven days a week, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Loads cross the scale on the way in and out, and you pay for the difference in weight.

South Dade Landfill is at 23707 SW 97th Ave in Homestead, entering through Gate A. It keeps the same seven-day, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. schedule. It's also the county's only landfill for asbestos.

Franchised haulers may use other licensed sites as well. Your account manager can tell you where your load is headed and which fees apply before delivery.

How Fast Can You Get a Dumpster in Miami, FL?

Most Miami rentals can be booked within one to two business days, with drop-off in a 24 to 48 hour window. Planning a few days ahead gives you time to confirm a legal spot for the container and check the City's franchise rules with us.

Here are five ways to make delivery easy:

  • Share what's going in. Tell us about tile, block, or roof debris so we can match the size to the weight.
  • Pick a private spot. Miami keeps containers off streets and sidewalks, so choose a driveway or yard space.
  • Measure the path. Make sure the truck can reach the spot, with room for the container and no low wires or palm fronds in the way.
  • Book in the morning. Next-day slots fill quickly, especially in the dry season when remodeling picks up.
  • Give us your finish date. When you're done, let your account manager know so pickup can be scheduled quickly.

The county landfills are open every day of the week, so a full container can often be hauled away even on a weekend.

Miami, FL Dumpster Questions

How much does a dumpster rental cost in Miami, FL?

In Miami, dumpster rentals run from $399 to $499 for a 10-yard container up to $699 to $899 for a 40-yard container, based on a five-day rental. Heavy debris and Miami-Dade County's per-ton disposal fees affect your final cost. Your account manager confirms included tonnage and overage rates at booking.

Is it cheaper to rent a dumpster or go to the dump?

A few bags can go to the dump in your own car. For a remodel or cleanout, renting usually costs less. The county landfills sit far from central Miami, charge by weight, and don't take cash. Several round trips add up fast in fuel and time. A single container handles the whole job.

Will a couch fit in a 10-yard dumpster?

Yes. A three-seat couch fills roughly one-fifth of a 10-yard dumpster. There's still space for chairs, a mattress, and bags of household junk. Furniture takes up room but doesn't weigh much, so you'll run out of space before you run into the weight limit.

When renting a dumpster, what can you not put in it?

Leave out hazardous waste, liquids, paint, solvents, fuel, used oil, and asbestos. Florida also bans lead-acid batteries and whole tires from landfills, and rechargeable batteries can't go in with mixed trash. Ask your account manager before loading anything unusual, since some items need a separate trip.

What is the cheapest dumpster I can rent in Miami, FL?

Our 10-yard dumpster has the lowest price, at $399 to $499. The final bill still depends on your debris. Concrete block and roof tile can push a small container past its weight allowance and add overage charges. Loading heavy material separately is the best way to save.

How much is it to rent a dumpster for 3 days?

Three days usually costs the same as our standard five-day rental. We price by the project, not by the day. The weight you load drives your bill more than the number of days you keep the container. Ask your account manager about the tonnage included before delivery.

What can you legally put in a dumpster?

Most home and job site debris is fine in a Miami dumpster. That includes drywall, lumber, cabinets, flooring, roofing, furniture, cardboard, and yard waste. Concrete and pavers are allowed too, but keep an eye on the weight. When you aren't sure about an item, check with your account manager before it goes in.
