In Daly City, a few local rules shape the cost as much as the container does.
Start with the size. A larger container costs more, but the right fit keeps you from paying for a second haul or going over your weight allowance.
Then think about weight. Stucco, tile, concrete, and roofing are heavy, and disposal sites around the Bay Area charge by weight. Mattresses, appliances, and tires can carry their own fees, so name them when you book.
Street placement adds a City fee. Many Daly City homes sit on narrow lots with steep driveways, so the container sometimes has to go in the street. The City's Master Fee Schedule lists a Temporary Container fee of $557.00, plus $111.00 for each week after the first and a $500.00 refundable deposit.
Recycling rules can add a deposit, too. Daly City requires many remodels, roof tear-offs, and demolitions to recycle at least 60% of their debris. The C&D program sheet covers alterations over $15,000, new construction over $25,000, and roof tear-offs over 100 square feet. A deposit is paid with the building permit and returned, less a $91 fee, once you show recycling receipts.
