Niland is unincorporated, so Imperial County sets the rules instead of a city. The County's Department of Public Works issues encroachment permits under a County ordinance adopted in 2003. The County's disposal site closest to town is the Niland Solid Waste Site at 8450 Cuff Road, Niland, CA 92257, about three miles northeast of Niland. Imperial County Public Works runs it, and CalRecycle's facility record lists it as permitted and active.
